YEREVAN. – The Ukrainian Embassy in Armenia has issued a statement referring to the visit of a group of Armenian citizens to Crimea.

The embassy's comment states that a group of Armenian nationals have illegally visited Crimea, it is not the first time that most of the members of this group have violated the Ukrainian law on visits Crimea, pursuant to which administrative and criminal accountability is set for violating the procedure for entry into occupied territories.

As per the statement, of particular concern are reports that members of this group discussed with the Russian authorities in Crimea the issue of "establishing humanitarian, economic, trade and tourism relations between Armenia and Crimea," which would be a direct violation of the Ukraine-Armenia Friendship and Cooperation Agreement.

The embassy statement added that some Armenian media outlets report that these people call themselves "representatives of the Republic of Armenia."

In this connection, the Ukrainian Embassy in Armenia has asked Armenian citizens to adhere to the current procedure for visiting Crimea, as approved by the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
