When fighting climate change it is important to raise young people's awareness on the matter, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said during “Reinventing Learning” discussion on the margins of the UNESCO general conference in Paris.

“We cannot say that our people, young generation are fully informed about climate change. Enhancing awareness will help them understand they can have an impact on situation globally,” Pashinyan said.  “We have a population of approximately three million, and in 2020 we are going to plant ten million trees in our country, and this will be our impact on fighting climate change”.

Speaking about young people, Pashinyan said they are fully engaged in decision-making process in Armenia.

“We have a 27-year-old minister in our government. We also have a young parliament,” he said.

Pashinyan emphasized that first of all the government should work on creating opportunities for children in remote villages.

“We are in the process of testing some methods on remote teaching, and we will use new technologies for this purpose,” he added.

Education is a global strategy for solving all problems, including the climate change, he added.
