YEREVAN. – The repayment of the loan provided for modernization of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) is planned to be extended for another two years, which may cause a deficit of 6 billion drams. Opposition Prosperous Armenia faction MP Sergey Bagratyan said this at the November 13 sitting of the National Assembly during the discussion of the draft state budget for 2020, and addressing Minister of Finance Atom Janjughazyan.

The parliamentarian inquired of the minister how this possible deficit would be repaid in connection with the extension of the NPP loan repayment term.

In response, Janjughazyan said that the issue is under discussion and will be resolved.

"We still have time to figure out how to resolve this issue," the minister said. “If I'm not mistaken, we have time until January 2020. The government can do so also within its powers, as it depends on both the amount and the terms and conditions in which case the issue is expected to be resolved."
