In 2020, the overall inflation of products imported by Armenia will make up only 0.5%. This is what Armenia’s Minister of Economy Tigran Khachatryan declared as he responded to a question from MP Karen Simonyan of the Bright Armenia faction during a session at the National Assembly today.

The deputy particularly noted that January 1, 2020 marks the end of the operations for special duties for the import of 699 products to Armenia, including wheat, meat, eggs, drugs and cars. As a result, higher customs duties will enter into force, and these are the customs duties for countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

“Next week, the government will publish data on how much those products will cost in the consumer basket, according to the official methodology,” Khachatryan said.

The minister also assured that next year’s inflation will be within the limits provided for by the 2020 State Budget, thanks to which there will be no additional financial burden on citizens.
