Net investment in Armenia on GDP amounted to 17-18% in recent years, economy minister Tigran Khachatryan said at the Armenian parliament during the discussion of the draft state budget for 2020 on Thursday.

According to him, investments in the medium term should reach 23-25%, and not only the government, but also the private sector should contribute to this.

“The economy should rearm. Studies conducted on our part indicate that the main problem in the real sector of the Armenian economy is the presence of old equipment and apparatus. They are technically and morally outdated and do not meet modern requirements,” Khachatryan said adding that the Armenian government will make every effort to ensure that the private sector invests in the production and import of modern equipment and generally participates in the development of IT spheres in the republic.
