YEREVAN. – The contradictory statements by the new Armenian authorities have put the negotiation process on a deadlock over the Karabakh issue. Armenia’s former Minister of National Security Davit Shahnazaryan stated this at the November 15 meeting of the Vernatun Club.

"This is a very serious threat for us, and Azerbaijan has already received serious arguments to justify future military operations," Shahnazaryan said. "All this may lead to the fact that an inadmissible document for us may appear on the negotiating table at any international event, which we can veto at maximum."

According to him, the new regional foreign policy challenges have been added to the traditional challenges and threats that have been exacerbated in the last year and a half.

According to him, the new negotiating point of the Armenian authorities is based on the fact that the principle of self-determination of people is not spoken about, and even if it is spoken, it is followed by statements that contradict that principle. "The principle of self-determination should be put on the basis of negotiations, and any statements that contradict it should be ruled out," Shahnazaryan said.

He noted that the most important issue for the Armenian people should be the international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh, as this is the issue of security of the whole Armenian people.
