A group of young Armenian women lawmakers from Armenia have been invited to the United States on the initiative of the Open World agency to get acquainted with the American experience, the Voice of America reports.

In the US capital city, these deputies representing the three factions of the Armenian parliament have already met with their Congressional colleagues.

According to Tatevik Gasparyan, as a result of discussions in Congress, it is obvious that both parties are interested in strengthening Armenian-American relations.

Lilit Stepanyan adds that the Open World program provides an opportunity to get acquainted with the cultural landscape of the United States through formal and informal meetings and discussions.

Shake Isayan emphasizes that it is important for success to combine the positive experience of the United States with the culture of Armenia.

According to Ani Samsonyan, the increasing role of women in Armenia's political field is a result of both legislative reforms and changes in the society.

Nora Arustamyan, who is a mother of twin boys, emphasizes that women's involvement in Armenia’s state bodies is clearly progressing.

According to these participants of the Open World program, they hope to use the practical knowledge they will gain in the US for Armenia's development.

"We are moving forward with positive trends," says Arustamyan.
