YEREVAN. – Andranik Hovhannisyan, an analyst at the Orbeli Analytical Research Center at the Prime Minister's Center for Public Relations and Information SNCO, was banned from entering Armenia because of threats to national security, or other serious and justified public threats to Armenia on his part. The National Security Service (NSS) press center informed this to Armenian News-NEWS.am.

"Andranik Hovhannisyan's entry to Armenia was banned under Article 8 (f) of the RA Law on Foreigners," the NSS press center reported.

According to this subparagraph, foreigners are prohibited from entering Armenia if there are serious and justified threats to the national security, or other serious and justified public threats on their part.

On his Facebook page , Hovhannisyan reported that on November 11, the Prime Minister's Office of Public Relations and Information Center SNCO and the Armenian-Russian (Slavonic) University had sent him to Tajikistan for a week to represent Armenia at an international conference. But upon his departure, an airport official took his residence card, stating that the computer recognizes it as invalid. "On November 16, upon returning to the RA, he was banned from entering Armenia at Zvartnots Airport without any explanation. Keeping him at the transit zone for 12 hours without food or water, they deported him to the Russian Federation."
