An earthquake of magnitude 6.3 has hit the coast of the Mexican state of Chiapas, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC) reported.

According to seismologists, the earthquake was recorded at 04.27 UTC. The quake epicenter was located 110 kilometers southwest of the village of Puerto Madero. The center of the earthquake lies at a depth of 60 kilometers.

The National Seismological Service of Mexico notes that the magnitude of the earthquake was 6.4.

According to Milenio daily, tremors were felt in coastal and alpine regions, in the territory of the state of Chiapas, in some areas of the state of Tabasco, as well as in the municipality of San Marcos in Guatemala. Information about possible casualties and destructions was not received.
