Representatives of interested bodies today held a working discussion on the draft of the new Criminal Procedure Code of Armenia, and among the attendees was Deputy Minister of Justice Srbuhi Galyan.

The discussion was organized through the combined efforts of the Ministry of Justice and the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan and as part of the Support to Criminal Justice Reforms and Harmonization of the Application of European Standards in Armenia Program.

Deputy Minister Galyan greeted the participants and expressed gratitude to the Council of Europe Office for the support that it has provided to the development of the Criminal Procedure Code for years. Touching upon the draft Code, Srbuhi Galyan stated that it is currently in the stage of summarization of the opinions regarding the draft and is about to be submitted to the National Assembly for passage.

Afterwards, head of the working group developing the Code Hrayr Ghukasyan presented the issues on the agenda and touched upon the functions, powers and relations of public participants in proceedings, the institution of criminal proceedings and public prosecutions and secret investigative actions.
