The meeting of the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Armenia Arayik Harutyunyan with the protesters who advocate the compulsory teaching of Armenian subjects in state universities does not make sense, Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, My Step ruling bloc MP said at the Armenian parliament on Wednesday.

He noted that during their protests, members of the youth wing of the ARF-D did not raise issues that had any connection with the reform of the education system in the country.

“They only say that they can meet with Arayik Harutyunyan only to discuss the issue of his resignation. Such a meeting is meaningless. If they raise questions about the unsatisfactory quality of education or about the unsatisfactory level of reforms and so on, then a great field for dialogue will open,” he said.
