Our goal and work need to be aimed at making sure all Armenians of the world have citizenship of the Republic of Armenia, especially since dual citizenship is permitted by Armenian legislation. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan stated during his meeting with the abbots of the Mekhitarist Congregation in Venice and members of the local Armenian community at St. Lazarus Island today.

According to him, Armenia has to become the axis of Armenian life and express the interests of all Armenians around the world. “This has been a constant debate in the history of the Third Republic of Armenia. Some have said there is a need for national ideology, while others have disagreed. There have also been different groups that have interpreted national ideology differently. Our government believes that national ideology is necessary and that pan-Armenianism is the national ideology, that is, every Armenian in the world has to live for Armenia, regardless of place of residence. Every government of Armenia has to be legitimate to speak on behalf of all Armenians of the world,” Pashinyan said.
