My son was studying abroad. In the beginning of 2018, I was not the Prime Minister of Armenia. He came to Armenia and never went back because he was going to turn 18 in March of that year and had to be drafted to the army. This is what Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan said during a meeting with the Armenian community of Milan, touching upon the comment of one of the members of the community that his son is about to turn 18 and has been asked to leave for Armenia to submit documents.

Pashinyan said he was happy that his son is serving in the Armed Forces of Armenia and called on conscript citizens of Armenia living abroad to come and serve in the homeland.

“I call on all of our sons who are conscripts to come to Armenia and serve in the Armenian army, especially since there are extensive and substantive changes being made in the army today, and I believe fulfilling the duty to the homeland is important for all us Armenians,” the Prime Minister said.

In response to the interlocutor’s comment that his son has to study for another three years, Pashinyan said the following: “My son also had to study for three years, but he came and is now serving in the army.”
