Armenia’s Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Suren Papikyan yesterday attended the complex events devoted to the Eurasian integration processes in the transport sector and held as part of the 13th Transport Week 2019 international conference in Moscow, including the plenary session under the title “Transport as a Basis for Eurasian Integration”, the 39th session of the Coordinating Transport Council of CIS countries and the 3rd session of the Council of Heads of Authorized Transport Bodies of CIS countries, reports the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures of Armenia.

The main topics of the 3rd session of the Council of Heads of Authorized Transport Bodies of CIS countries moderated by Suren Papikyan were the action plans of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union for implementation of the coordinated transport policy for the years 2018-2020 and issues related to the implementation of the decisions taken during the second session held in October in Yerevan.

The 39th session of the Coordinating Transport Council of CIS countries was also held during the conference, and Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Suren Papikyan was elected vice-chairman of the Council.

During the visit, Suren Papikyan had meetings with the heads of the partnering government agencies of CIS countries and discusses issues of mutual interest. Papikyan attached importance to the effective use of Armenia’s transit potential in the bilateral and multilateral formats of cooperation with the partnering countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.

During Transport Week 2019, Minister Papikyan also attended the exhibition of the unified pavilion dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the establishment of the Eurasian Economic Union where the transport infrastructure projects linking the economies of the member states to each other were in the spotlight. Armenia presented the course of implementation of the activities for modernization that have been carried out at the Bagratashen border checkpoint since Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union.
