Former President of the Football Federation of Armenia (FFA) and former Director of the National Security Service (NSS) Artur Vanetsyan commented on agreed matches in Armenian football in an interview with 168.am.

“The criminal case regarding agreed games was instituted when I was Director of the NSS. It is an irrefutable fact. The case was revealed during my term of office. Nobody was arrested, but we don’t have the right to violate the presumption of innocence so long as there is no court verdict and a person’s guilt has not been proved in court. We have commitments and obligations,” Artur Vanetsyan said.

Artur Vanetsyan also commented on the taxes paid and expenditures made by the FFA and the potential financial violations.

“The FFA receives no funding from the state budget. When I was elected President of the FFA, the FFA addressed the State Revenue Committee, started paying Value Added Tax, and in one year, it paid taxes worth AMD 600,000,000. Children train for free at all the schools and academies under the subordination of the Federation. These are all big expenses,” he said.

President of the Football Federation of Armenia Artur Vanetsyan and the FFA Executive Committee resigned today, and a new president and executive committee will be elected during the FFA General Assembly to be held on December 23.
