After the revolution that took place in Armenia last year, a need has emerged to mark the role of Yerevan in the global security system in several contexts, and one of those contexts is that Armenia is assuming the role of an active contributor to the ensuring of security, and not only within the country, but also beyond its boundaries. This is what Secretary of the Security Council of Armenia Armen Grigoryan said during an international conference under the title “Primakov Readings in Yerevan” today.

He reiterated the statement that Armenia’s foreign policy vector will remain the same and that Yerevan, seeing the huge potential for development in many sectors, will do its best to maximally use that potential. “One of the ways Armenia shows that it is responsible for ensuring security in the region is the humanitarian mission in Syria. The actions are also conditioned by the historical context. During the years of the Armenian Genocide, the Syrian people were one of the first to extend a helping hand to the Armenians, and now we Armenians are paying the Syrians back. In addition, we Armenians bear responsibility for the Armenians living beyond the boundaries of Armenia as well,” the Secretary of the Security Council emphasized.

From November 22 to 23, Yerevan is hosting and international conference dedicated to the 90th anniversary of Russian state figure, scientist Yevgeny Primakov under the title “Primakov Readings in Yerevan” and under the theme “Armenia in the Global Context”.
