Yevgeny Primakov would go against the consequences of approach, and Armenia is currently feeling these consequences as well, taking into consideration the fact that it is close to the Middle East and particularly Syria where the situation is currently troubling. This is what Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Armenia Sergey Kopirkin told journalists today.

He stated that Primakov held major public offices in an era that was a turning era for Russia and made essential contributions to global politics. “Now, as we follow the development of events in global politics, we see how insightful Primakov was when he would say that the world is becoming multipolar and how he would attach importance to the cooperation of new centers. It was Primakov who conceived the idea of the “triangular” cooperation of Russia, India and China which is now part of the broader BRICS cooperation,” he stated and emphasized that Primakov was very well aware of the importance of shaping and defending Russia’s state interests.

On March 24, 1999, Prime Minister of Russia Yevgeny Primakov, who was flying to the United States on an official visit, turned the plane around while flying over the Atlantic Ocean and returned to Moscow as a sign of protest against the launch of the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia.

From November 22 to 23, Yerevan is hosting an international conference under the title “Primakov Readings” and dedicated to Yevgeny Primakov’s 90th anniversary.
