YEREVAN. – I have to disagree with the position of Armenia’s former President Serzh Sargsyan, as it is clear that Armenia strives not only to pursue a balanced policy, but also to build quality new relations with partners. Lilit Makunts, head of the majority My Step faction in the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia, stated this at the November 25 press conference in the NA, commenting on the recent statement by third President Serzh Sargsyan at the European People's Party congress in Zagreb, Croatia.

Sargsyan, in particular, had said that no major revolutionary changes have taken place in Armenia’s domestic and foreign policy over the past 1.5 years.

According to Makunts, there is every reason to insist that Armenia takes practical steps to deepen relations with the United States through a parliamentary platform. "The sovereign positions of Armenia, which we are talking about in the context of relations with our international partners, are also very important," the aforesaid faction leader stressed.
