A group of parents and their children today gathered in front of the government building and protested against the closure of boarding schools.

One of the children’s mother said the government’s decision on closing boarding schools will leave her children on the streets since her family doesn’t have a place to call home.

“I had registered my children at a daycare center, but the Prime Minister closed it down. Now I rent an apartment in Vanadzor. They tell me to take my children to a foster home, but who are they to decide where my children should live?” the mother of one of the children said, adding that she and her family are in a situation where the children’s education is also at risk since no school will enroll her children hallway through the school year.

According to one of the protesters, the Prime Minister’s assistant asked about the situation and said the Ministry of Labor and Social Affairs had assured that all the issues were solved and that it had worked with all the families.

Another protester said they will fight until the end in order to provide a solution to the issue.
