From now on, those who debase a soldier and push him to commit suicide will be sentenced to up to 14 years in prison. Naira Zohrabyan, a member of the opposition Prosperous Armenia faction at the National Assembly, wrote about this on her Facebook page.

"Article 110 on inciting suicide provides for only three years in prison under our Criminal Code,” she specifically noted. “This is unfair, and I and my colleagues have suggested an amendment to the Criminal Code.

From now on, the person who humiliates, scorns, debases the soldier, as a result of which the soldier, the officer resorts to suicide, will be imprisoned for 6-12 years, and up to 14 years during martial law or military action.

The [National Assembly Standing] Committee on State and Legal [Affairs] voted unanimously for the draft. I have no doubt that tomorrow Parliament will do the same.

This is an important law.

The dignity of our soldier is the dignity of each of us."
