The trade turnover between Armenia and Kazakhstan from January to September 2019 decreased by 10% compared to the same period in 2018, Kazakh ambassador to Armenia Timur Urazaev said at a presentation titled Kazakhstan-Armenia: Exporting Opportunities.

According to him, the trade dynamics between Armenia and Kazakhstan is unstable over the past 20 years.

“For over 13 years, the volume of investments from Kazakhstan to Armenia amounted to $ 52 million, and from Armenia to Kazakhstan - $ 2 million. Investments are observed in the cognac sphere, in furniture and jewelry production. These do not correspond to the real potential, which leads to a certain disappointment in business cooperation, although the political dialogue has always been at a high level,” he said.

The envoy noted the importance of establishing own production and trade in own products between countries, e.g. cars.

Touching upon the possibility of increasing the volume of air transportation, the ambassador noted that this issue is related to economic feasibility.

“The reason why flights between Kazakhstan and Georgia are better established is due to the fact that Georgia has access to the sea and tourists prefer sea vacations more. Kazakhstani business enters international markets through the ports of Batumi and Poti,” he said noting that business connections are also very active.
