The members of the youth union of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation-Dashnaktsutyun political party have gathered near the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport today with the hope to have a meeting with the minister.

Earlier, they had issued a statement demanding the development and publication of strategies arising from the current demands in the fields of education, science, culture and sport; significant increase of government funding in these fields; development of concept papers and professional plans to ensure the mandatory principle of teaching Armenian language and history in universities; ensure mandatory teaching of history of the Armenian Church in schools and remove or radically review the bill on higher education and science.

The ministry had responded to this statement and had declared that there was no agreement on a meeting between them and the minister.

The young members had held a two-week sit-in in front of the ministry with the demand for the minister’s resignation, claiming that the ministry is leading an anti-national policy, and consequently, Minister Arayik Harutyunyan must resign.
