The statistics of road accidents and deaths in Armenia is of increasing concern from year to year, said Bright Armenia party MP Karen Simonyan on Tuesday at the parliament

According to him, one person dies per day in Armenia as a result of road accidents.

“The number of victims of road accidents reached 253 people, which is 11 more than last year from January to November of this year,” he said.

The MP also recalled that earlier the parliament adopted a bill providing for the introduction of a point system of fines for violations of traffic rules.

He believes that this system could correct this catastrophic situation, but the process stopped halfway.

“We have several accidents every day. We still cannot solve the problem. I don’t understand why the parliament is not bringing the implementation of the system to its logical conclusion, why the process has stalled?” Karen Simonyan wonders.

The MP urged to discuss the law in the second reading as soon as possible and finally adopt it.
