YEREVAN. – At its session today, the government made a decision to approve the Law on Material Reserves and related laws.

The reasoning of the decision states that, given the geopolitical position of the Republic of Armenia, the solution of the needs of the population and the needs of the Armed Forces is pushed to the forefront in the context of road blockade during military actions.

The problem arises to increase the efficiency of the state material reserves, and to modernize its formation approaches and management system.

Currently, the functions of the state material reserves are carried out solely at the expense of budgetary financing.

The potential of specialized commercial organizations is not used to form state material reserves, and losses arise during the updating the material values of the state reserves.

The purpose of the adoption of the projects is to create a legal framework for the development and reform of Armenia's material reserve system and to modernize and replenish its material reserves.

The draft law envisages making the companies that import strategic material values as well as the organizations having mobilization tasks participate in the formation of the material reserves.

The adoption of the drafts is expected to create a legal framework ensuring the reform and development of Armenia's material reserves and, as a result, reducing threats to national security.
