YEREVAN. – At its today's session, the Government of the Republic of Armenia (RA) made a decision to amend one of its decisions, which envisage reviewing the complete the list of goods permitted for release for customs use by the customs procedure with the line "light cars."

The issue was presented by Deputy Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure Bagrat Badalyan, noting that it will enable to import right-hand drive cars to Armenia and to turn them into left-hand drive in the country.

After this and the customs clearance, these car must be registered, and then freely operated in Armenia.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that, in effect, a "temporary import" regime will allow right-hand drive vehicles to be brought to Armenia.

"We have a problem today that an astronomical number of vehicles are being imported to Armenia, and since there will be a change in the customs regime in 2020, I think there will be a sharp decline here," Pashinyan emphasized. “But we need to understand what is happening. We have to understand how many [cars] left Armenia, how many he stayed in the RA, and what challenge this brings. "

"Let's come to an agreement that this batch [of right-hand drive cars] goes out, too, and we are completely closing [in Armenia] the ‘way’ for cars of this kind," the Prime Minister added.
