YEREVAN. – Charging Serzh Sargsyan is a purely legal process, and to see political elements, there must be circumstances that this criminal case is fake, false, and there is no evidence. Edmon Marukyan, head of the opposition Bright Armenia faction at the National Assembly, said this in a conversation with reporters today in parliament, referring to third President Sargsyan’s indictment.

"But let's see what the Republicans say in their posts," Marukyan said. “They say that Sergo Karapetyan, their appointed minister, testified against Serzh Sargsyan, and you will see… and criticism of the government that it is political persecution, and so on. It's the same as [Bright Armenia MP] Mane Tandilyan testifying against me, I complain [about it] to [PM] Nikol [Pashinyan]. What is the logic? If such a thing has happened, your minister has testified in the case, and the criminal case is being investigated.

Moreover, they have long argued that Serzh Sargsyan shall be arrested; he hasn’t been arrested. As for the attempt to silence, Serzh Sargsyan has been silent and has always said that 'time will come, I will speak'. So, what have they kept silent?

“We will monitor the criminal case. If there will be a problem, we will know, we will tell. There will be a public trial.”
