YEREVAN. – Many want to forget the people of Artsvashen, but they cultivate the soil and keep the border. Yura Ghulyan, Chairman of the Artsvashen and Sons Compatriotic Union, said this in front of the government of Armenia building today.

"There was a meeting with the Prime Minister, during which we agreed to prepare the matter and receive our delegation within 20 days," he said. “We really had come with hope and faith. Later on, the word ‘desperate people of Artsvashen’ came into circulation. There is no such thing, the people of Artsvashen are frustrated at the moment, but they hope that their issue will be resolved positively."

Ghulyan said that in 2009, the then government had decided to compensate the people of Artsvashen village for their material losses, 2,000 people were paid this compensation, with 360,000 drams, each.

"The Prime Minister instructed to look into the matter within 20 days," he added. “But that meeting didn't happen. We met with the Minister of Territorial Administration during which the Minister approximately said that they had nothing to give. The people are in disarray because their voice is not being heard.”
