YEREVAN. – All former servicemen of Armenia who have sustained a disability during military service will henceforth receive a military pension, regardless of the time when they had sustained that disability. Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Gemafin Gasparyan said this at the December 5 sitting of the National Assembly while discussing the relevant bill.

In presenting the bill, he particularly noted that the decision was based on the July 12 ruling of the Constitutional Court.

In the past, disability was decided for a period of five years, but after that, by law, the government was no longer entitled to designate military pensions.

"The Constitutional Court has ruled that this is contrary to the Basic Law,” the deputy minister explained, “and we are now lifting this restriction."
