First of all, I consider increase of effectiveness of the programs for support to agriculture, and secondly, I consider increase of financial resources envisaged by the state budget. This is what Minister of Finance of Armenia Atom Janjughazyan declared during a discussion on the draft of the 2020 State Budget, responding to deputy of Prosperous Armenia Party Mikayel Melkumyan’s question. The deputy particularly asked whether it wouldn’t be more reasonable to increase allocations to support agriculture, to which the finance minister responded by saying that the funds allocated for taking care of the needs for agriculture must first and foremost serve their goal. “We’re talking about funds, but first we need to increase effectiveness of the actions being taken within the scope of various programs. Today we have a situation where the project in the initial stage was considered viable, logical and rather stimulating, but certain problems are arising during implementation. Sometimes we need to review those programs and generate new ones so that the existing resources can serve the goal,” Janjughazyan said.
