Ani Alaverdyan, the lawyer of son of second Armenian President Robert Kocharyan Sedrak Kocharyan, on Thursday petitioned the court to deprive political scientist Ara Papyan of the right to write and post.

Her remarks came at a hearing in the case of Sedrak Kocharyan v. Ara Papyan in Yerevan on Thursday.

Ara Papyan said that the trial was in the public spotlight, he had received numerous calls and therefore decided to inform about it through a Facebook post.

As reported earlier, Kocharyan's son demands political scientist Ara Papyan to publicly deny the information over the transfer of AMD 2 million for slander. The basis for submitting the application was the April 2018 post of Ara Papyan.

"This is turning into a political event, which is inadmissible, which may affect the impartiality and independence of the court,” Sedrak Kocharyan said.

The prosecutor said that Ara Papyan's statement was also spread by the Sasna Tsrer party.

"This is turning into a political event, which is unacceptable," he said.

Ara Papyan, in turn, noted that he is not a member of any party and has not been.

The decision on the plaintiff's mediation will be announced in court on December 6.
