The Special Investigation Service has denied the motion of attorney Mihran Poghosyan to lift search for former head of the investigative group under the case of the events of March 1, 2008 Vahagn Harutyunyan, as reported Spokesperson of the Special Investigation Service Marina Ohanjanyan.

On December 30, 2018, the Yerevan court of first instance rendered the second decision on remanding Vahagn Harutyunyan, but on February 6, 2019, the Court of Appeal overturned the decision and forwarded the case to the first instance court for new examination. The charge brought against Vahagn Harutyunyan, who is accused of organizing falsification of evidence under the case of the events of March 1, 2008, was supplemented in December 2018.

The Yerevan court of general jurisdiction had also rendered a decision to remand Vahagn Harutyunyan on November 2, 2018 for organizing falsification of evidence under the case regarding a particularly grave crime, but on December 12, the Criminal Court of Appeal overturned the first instance court’s decision and eliminated the decision on remand as a preventive measure for Vahagn Harutyunyan.
