YEREVAN. – While discussing a draft decision to extend the work of the National Assembly (NA) of Armenia Inquiry Committee for Examining the Circumstances of the Military Activities of April 2016in, independent MP Arman Babajanyan asked whether former Secretary of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Security Council Vitali Balasanyan would also be called to the committee for an interview.

"There were statements and speculations from Artsakh," Babajanyan said, in particular, addressing Andranik Kocharyan, chairman of this committee and MP from the majority My Step faction. “Vitali Balasanyan and other militaries made statements; they received some answers from you. But were you inclined to invite them also to get some answers? Is there a willingness to cooperate with the representatives of Artsakh?”

Kocharyan responded that Artsakh officials fully understand their committee. "Vital Balasanyan's statements were mainly of a political nature," he said. “The hero of Artsakh had no governance function in those actions. We have found no evidence of [his] involvement in governance; that's why we haven't included him in the list of invitees."
