Russian TV has produced a documentary about Mikhail Piotrovsky, Director of the Hermitage Museum in Saint Petersburg, Russia, who turns 75 on December 9.

Part of the shooting for this documentary took place in Yerevan, where the famous academician was born in 1944.

The film crew, along with Piotrovsky, took a stroll on Northern Avenue in the downtown of Armenia’s capital city.

"My Armenian name was Mikael," says Piotrovsky. "I have been registered in the Russian metrology book under that exotic name."

The director of the Hermitage Museum also showed the house where he was born and where the bust of his father, prominent archaeologist Boris Piotrovsky, now stands.

"I have three ‘bloods,’” Mikhail Piotrovsky added. “I have Russian, Armenian, and Polish blood."

In downtown Yerevan, Mikhail Piotrovsky met also with Russian Armenian business tycoon Ruben Vardanyan, who congratulated the academician on receiving the title of Honorary Citizen of Yerevan.

The documentary also features footage from this award ceremony.
