There are no changes in the statements made after the meeting of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Armenia and Azerbaijan devoted to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, but the previously declared plan is in progress, that is, the parties have to move forward with humanitarian programs and create the favorable atmosphere in which it will be possible to make the transition to the stage of fundamental negotiations once and for all. This is what deputy of the My Step faction of the National Assembly Hovhannes Igityan told journalists today.

“The most important thing that I noticed in the statement was that there is no alternative to a peaceful resolution of the conflict. We need to reach the level where the OSCE Minsk Group or any other organization gives an appropriate evaluation of any shooting or violation of agreement on the part of Azerbaijan,” he said.

When asked if the foreign ministers are meeting or negotiating, Igityan said this is a word game and that the fundamental approach is that the participation of Karabakh in the negotiations is important.

When told that Azerbaijan says the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh also has to sit at the negotiating table along with the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic, Igityan said the following: “Prime Minister Pashinyan has declared that he sees no problem with having representatives of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh be a part of the delegation led by Aliyev. It doesn’t matter if they come or not. Aliyev represents those people because they elected Aliyev to represent their interests. The Armenian people elected Prime Minister Pashinyan. The other mass is the people of Artsakh, and nobody can represent them around the negotiating table. The important thing is that Armenia has been able to turn the participation of Nagorno-Karabakh in the stage of negotiations into a subject matter.”
