The construction of the third Iran-Armenia power transmission line will allow our country to increase the transit potential of electricity, Armenian Minister of Territorial Administration and Infrastructures Suren Papikyan said on Monday.

According to him, transit opportunities will increase not only with Iran and Georgia, but also with the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, and Russia.

The deadline for the construction of the third Iran-Armenia power transmission line (LEP) was scheduled for December 31, 2021. The construction of the power transmission line was expected to be completed in 2018, but then the deadlines were postponed to 2020. The total cost of the project for the construction of power lines with a capacity of 400 kV is over EUR 107 million. The power lines are expected to expand the corridor for electricity flows between Armenia and Iran by three times.
