YEREVAN. – Hambardzum Melik-Sargsyan, the attorney of Armenia’s former Prosecutor General Gevorg Kostanyan, has appealed to overturn the court's decision to arrest Kostanyan. Melik-Sargsyan said this in a conversation with NEWS.am.

He noted that the appeal was lodged on December 9.

On September 25, the Special Investigation Service had issued a statement on bringing charges against former police chief Alik Sargsyan, and Kostanyan and former deputy chief of police Gevorg Mheryan were also mentioned in this statement.

Within the framework of the "March 1 [2008] case" Gevorg Kostanyan has become an accused on charges of abuse of power, goad to official fraud, goad to conceal a serious crime, and goad to falsify evidence in a criminal case on a serious crime.
