The talks over the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict might enter a deadlock. This is what Head of the Political Affairs Bureau and the Armenian Cause Office of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun Party of Armenia Giro Manoyan told journalists today.

According to him, Armenia’s incumbent authorities are making the same mistakes that the previous authorities made. “We’re talking about official recognition of Karabakh and the signing of a military-political agreement. This can have an impact on the situation, but the Armenian authorities aren’t rushing to advance these issues,” Manoyan explained.

He stated that there is discrepancy in the statements by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, particularly the statements “Artsakh is Armenia, period” and “the positions of Yerevan and Stepanakert on the settlement of the conflict are identical” and added that the Prime Minister also insists that there is a need to bring Karabakh back to the negotiating table.

According to Manoyan, Yerevan must officially affirm its status as the guarantor of the security of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic. Kiro Manoyan recalled that the part of the text of the speech by Armenia’s foreign minister in Bratislava that disappeared sparked great reactions, and that part stated that Stepanakert can defend itself and that Armenia is the guarantor of the security of Karabakh.
