YEREVAN. – At the opening of the Euronest plenary session of the Eastern Partnership Parliamentary Assembly, and upon the proposal of the Armenian delegation, all delegates, with the exception of one delegate from Azerbaijan, honored with a minute's silence the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide in 1915, as well as the victims of all other genocides. Leader of the Armenian parliamentary delegation to the Euronest, Gayane Abrahamyan, an MP of the ruling My Step bloc, said this at a joint press conference on December 12, at the National Assembly.

She noted that the opening ceremony took place on December 9, the day of the UN-declared genocide prevention ay. "And I, taking this opportunity, spoke about the Armenian Genocide," Abrahamyan said. “I have emphasized that we strive to pay respects at every possible opportunity, not only to the victims of the Armenian Genocide, but also to do everything possible to prevent such crimes. I called on all those in attendance to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide and all genocides. Everybody stood up, except for one Azerbaijani deputy. But realizing that this is a tribute to all genocide victims, all other members of the Azerbaijani delegation stood up."
