U.S. President Donald Trump should now follow suit and recognize the Armenian Genocide, former US Ambassador to UN Samantha Power tweeted.
“US Senate just recognized the Armenian Genocide. President Trump should now follow suit, on behalf of all the victims & survivors of the genocide & the millions of Armenian-Americans who have fought so hard for this day,” she said.
Power also tweeted a video showing Senator Robert Menendez broke into tears while presenting resolution in the Senate.
“For people who have become cynical about public service, take 30 seconds to watch Senator Menendez get choked up before he closes the successful Senate vote recognizing the Armenian Genocide. He worked for decades to make this happen,” she said.
