Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's approach to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) conflict, in fact, serves the national and state interests of Azerbaijan. The office former Secretary of the Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) Security Council Vitali Balasanyan has released a statement to this effect.

"Nikol Pashinyan, who holds the post of RA Prime Minister following the change of power in the Republic of Armenia in April 2018, often gives contradictory and unacceptable assessments when expressing his views on the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict," the statement reads, in particular. “Pashinyan's approach to the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, in fact, serves the national and state interests of Azerbaijan, the manifestation of which was made public on December 10, by the mouth of Hovhannes Igityan, Deputy Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the RA National Assembly and [majority] My Step faction MP, when he stated that Pashinyan was not against the representatives of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh to also be with [Azerbaijan President Ilham] Aliyev in the negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict settlement.

The authorities of Artsakh have repeatedly openly opposed the wishes of the OSCE Minsk Group and the Azerbaijani authorities to involve the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh in any negotiation format.

If the countries involved in the negotiation process, including Armenia, try to involve representatives of the Azerbaijani community of Nagorno-Karabakh in the negotiations, it will be one of the biggest perils and threats during the existence of the Artsakh Republic, and all the healthy and realistic forces of the Armenians will be directed to neutralizing it.”
