There is a proposal to increase the penalty for conscripts of the reserve who refuse to take part in the call-ups and military exercises of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia for no good reason. This is what Deputy Minister of Defense Gabriel Balayan said during a discussion on the package of bills on making amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses and related laws held at the National Assembly today.

According to him, if a conscript of the reserve receives a notice from the military registration office that he is obliged to show up for military exercises or call-ups, but fails to fulfill the requirement for no good reason, he will pay an AMD 30,000 fine instead of the previous AMD 20,000 as prescribed by law, and if the conscript of the reserve refuses to fulfill the requirement of the military registration office twice in the course of one year, the fine will increase up to AMD 50,000.
