YEREVAN. – You see only 10 percent of these processes. Hrayr Tovmasyan, President of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, told this to reporters today after the search in his home.

"The former NSS [National Security Service] director [Artur Vanetsyan] made a hint about it," he said. "I hope, I am sure that his honor as an officer will not allow him to remain silent about it, and (...) it will all become the ‘property’ of the public. If I keep silent about it to this day, it conditioned solely by the reputation of my country."

Tovmasyan expressed hope that Vanetsyan had much more to say.

He assured that the process against him is political.

"The problem is deeper," he said. “My refusal to testify is conditioned by the fact that there is no right at all here. The real purpose of all this is political and bad political, which not only is not in my interests, your interests, in anyone's interests."

As reported earlier, the Special Investigation Service investigators conducted a search in Hrayr Tovmasyan's apartment today.

Hrayr Tovmasyan, President of the Constitutional Court of Armenia, has been charged with abuse of power. The decision to involve him as a defendant in the respective criminal case was made by the Prosecutor General on December 26, 2019, the same day that President Armen Sarkissian signed the law granting the serving Constitutional Court judges the opportunity to retire early.
