President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan has declared that about 400,000 refugees are moving from Syria’s Idlib to the Turkish border due to escalation of the armed conflict in the region, reports RIA Novosti.

“We can’t solve the issue by sending with tents. This is why we have declared mobilization with the Red Crescent. First, we will set up a city for 10,000 refugees and will continue in the zone free of terrorists along the entire length of the border,” Erdogan said during a joint press conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Turkey.

Angela Merkel expressed gratitude for Turkey’s humanitarian efforts in Syria.

“I believe the EU will provide assistance. People traveling from Idlib to Turkey need to spend the winter. We need to build normal homes, not set up tents, and Germany can take part in the efforts,” Merkel said.
