Law enforcers in Phoenix, Arizona, arrested a man on Thursday who allegedly was the leader of an al-Qaeda cell in Iraq in the past, Newsweek reported.

The arrested Ali Yousif Ahmed Al-Nouri is charged with the murder of two police officers in the Iraqi city of Fallujah. The Iraqi court has issued an arrest warrant for al-Nuri, and the government has requested the extradition of the arrested, the newspaper said.

If the extradition of the suspect is approved by the court, the final decision on his return to Iraq will be made by US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo.
