In an interview with Die Welt, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Austria Alexander Schallenberg says Austria is offering to send EU border guards to Libya to maintain the ban on supply of weapons in the conflict zone.

According to the diplomat, if an agreement is reached, Austria will be ready to contribute to the mission.

He added that Austria also supports the idea of reinforcement protection of the air space of Libya that the European External Action Service had proposed earlier.

The peaceful settlement of the Libyan conflict is expected to become a major topic during the meeting of foreign ministers of EU member states on February 17 in Brussels.
