YEREVAN. – The first-instance court hearing of the criminal case involving Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan and some other former senior officials resumed today.

At this stage, the court is considering the motion of the former president's lawyers to terminate the criminal proceedings against him.

In this regard, the lawyers argue, in particular, that Article 300.1 of the Criminal Code is unacceptable, since this article was established one year after the alleged crime and has no retroactive effect.

Earlier, the lawyers of the other defendants had also filed such a motion.
