YEREVAN. – Today’s first-instance court hearing of the criminal case involving Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan and some other former senior officials did not take place because of the absence of the interpreter.

In fact, the hearing was postponed before it actually began.

Presiding Judge Anna Danibekyan stated that a message was received from the interpreter shortly before the hearing informing that she could not be present at the hearing, whereas the court cannot provide an interpreter for a short time.

Given that it is impossible to hold the hearing without the interpreter—who interprets for defendant Yuri Khachaturov, the court was adjourned until February 25.
