The objection of the preliminary investigation body regarding the decision of the prosecutor conducting oversight over the case regarding Ara Babloyan (ex-speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia) and Arsen Babayan (ex-deputy chief of staff of the National Assembly of Armenia) on disapproving the indictment and returning the criminal case has been rejected due to the fact that it is groundless, as reported Head of the Public Relations Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office of Armenia Arevik Khachatryan.

As reported earlier, the Prosecutor General’s Office hadn’t approved the indictment for the case of Ara Babloyan for the second time and had forwarded it to the Special Investigation Service for further investigation.

Based on the application filed by deputy of the National Assembly of Armenia Arman Babajanyan, on October 28, within the scope of the criminal case instituted by the Special Investigation Service, former speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia Ara Babloyan was charged with possession of the powers of the Constitutional Court and official fraud.
