YEREVAN. – We have to go by way of widespread declaration income. Former governor of the Central Bank of Armenia, economist Bagrat Asatryan, said this during a press conference today, when asked about his view on level taxation in the country.

He emphasized that the real income is not the salary, but the income from all sources in general.

"When we talk about leveling, progressive taxation, this should be about earnings, in general, not the earnings in the form of a specific salary," Asatryan said. “Taxation should be based on declaration; the salary will be one of the sources here. Only a thousand people were receiving more than 3 million [drams per month in Armenia]. We have a great retreat in this regard, too. The sharpest level of income polarization in the ex-USSR republics is in Armenia."

The economist added that it is due to Armenia's overall tax system, including the progressive taxation system, which seemed. "I am now looking forward to the application of the property tax law, which is one of the fairest types of taxes," he emphasized.

Asatryan noted that the shadow economy is manifested behind real estate, too, so the income that was not collected at the time should be collected today in the form of property tax.
