In Georgia, the government makes some offers for investments and shows investors a package with the main solutions. This is what former head of the Central Bank of Armenia, economist Bagrat Asatryan told reporters today.

According to him, the investor has to assess the risks and make a decision. “Of course, there is progress in Armenia as well. There are no officials who ask for their share in investments. However, this isn’t enough. The government has to realize its role in order to provide effective services and attract investors,” he said.

Touching upon the fight against corruption, the economist said the government needs to have a systemic approach. “Having ex-officials return stolen money is not enough for the fight against corruption. The fight against corruption needs to be widespread,” he emphasized.
